The Ministry of Equal Opportunities and the Luxembourg branch of Zonta International jointly organized the Orange Week as part of UNITE, an ONU Women project.
The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness on violence against women and to end gender-based violence. In this context, ONU Women invites all governments, NGOs, citizens, the media and the private sector to unite around this theme. A series of events highlighting violence against women will take place from November 15 to December 9: exhibitions, walks, workshops and round tables, with the color orange as a signature.
The flagship event will be the march which is organized on Saturday 24 November in Luxembourg, in echo with the one taking place in Paris as part of the International Day Against Violence Against Women.
Film screenings will also take place, such as the film "Precious" which illustrates the theme and which will be broadcasted on December 9 at the Cinémathèque of the City of Luxembourg.
Here is the detailed program:
All citizens are encouraged to participate in "Orange Week" to give a strong signal and to testify that violence against women is an unacceptable and intolerable fact that must be put at the center of the public debate to make it more visible and to give lasting and effective answers to this societal plague.
