de Läb Orchestra
You know De Läb? If you live in Luxembourg and your daddy isn’t keeping you captured in the basement, you’ll probably do; if not – here’s what they’re about: cheeky rap hooks in Luxembourgish that will make you nod your heads extensively. Exclusive for this year’s Food For Your Senses, they will the notorious rap duo will be accompanied by a classical music orchestra. And that is something you don’t wanna miss.
Allah-Las
The garage rock’n’roll of Allah Las will take you straight to the Los Angeles of beatniks, artists, surfers, nomads, rebels and dreamers. Since 2008, the combo creates a sound that shapes the eternal myths of the American West and it’s a great honour to welcome the grand seigneurs of electric folk and surfer blues back to Luxembourg.
Scarred
Scarred
Over the years, Luxembourg has become some kind of promised land for hard’n’heavy tunes. We’re very grateful and kind of proud that these guys have chosen FFYS to mark what can be considered a long awaited comeback!
Tash Sultana
Tash Sultana
Tash Sultana is a pure one-woman powerhouse: her carefully crafted, edgy, multi-instrumental pieces featuring beat boxing, unique guitar work and percussion styled finger tapping, has left sold out audiences in awe. Somewhere between reggae, funk and pop, the young Australian (twenty-one years of age!) is creating waves and generating massive street buzz by playing sold out shows all over the World. Tash has made a name for herself busking on the streets of Melbourne and having homemade videos go viral getting millions of views online. Just perfect!
Sinkane
Sinkane
Any attempt at categorization would be an offense to the genius of Sinkane. So here are the elements. Think of Africa: From Sinkane’s childhood in Sudan there is a Pan-African influence of popular Sudanese music and haqibah, as well as distinct horn and synth arrangements more common to East Africa. But the „worldly“ background is just one of the facets of Sinkane’s music. It’s probably best described as an adventure in modern soul and funk, declined with the organic dramatics of krautrock. Open your heart, you won’t regret it!
